The
direction of the East represents spirituality and enlightenment.
The direction of East is our beginning of knowing who the "self"
is. Through this discovery we are able to make a new beginning
and become prepared for the remainder of our journey.
The quality embraced by the East is that of enlightenment.
Through the East we begin to see where we are - we have an inner
knowledge that comes from our understanding that we are united as
one with all things. Here we find the courage to extend our
visions - to see the broader picture of our lives. Here we learn
perspective.
The totem of the East is the Eagle. The Eagle soars high and has
the ability to see great distances. Eagle receives inspiration
from Great Spirit, and brings balance into our lives.
The element of the East is Air - the Wind. Wind is movement and
freedom - the clearing of thoughts and the carrier that allows
us to manifest our dreams. Wind reminds us of the power of
things we cannot see or touch. Air represents the mind.
The color of the East is yellow. Yellow is the color of the
solar plexus chakra, and brings us the energy of adventure.
The Kingdom associated with the East is the Human Kingdom. Here
we see the dual nature of man - child of earth reflecting the
immortal being of Great Spirit.
The time period of the East is momentary. The power of a moment
lies in the quality of that moment - that is why it is important
to live "in" the moment.
The season of the East is Spring. Spring is the awakening of new
life. It is becoming aware of what lies within ourselves and
what lies outside of ourselves. Use the time of the East to see
where you are headed in your life.

PREPARATION FOR THE EAST
CEREMONY
July 18, 2004 4pm Sacred Space
Create Your Intention,
Your intention must be written. It is best if it is clear and
concise. It will need to be something that can be spoken and/or
written word for word.
Bring a Sacred Object.
Your sacred object is something you consider sacred and
meaningful to you and that will best serve you on your journey.
Bring A Candle/Holder.
Bring a candle and candle holder that speaks to you and will
stay lit for several hours. Tea lights work well, however, any
candle that you desire can be used. You may want to bring extra
tea lights.
Bring An Offering to The Earth.
This offering is something from the earth such as tobacco, sage,
herbs, feathers, shells, etc.
Bring Your Sacred Journey Journal
This journal will be used only for the Sacred Journey, so make
it a special one. In order to be more physically
comfortable, you may wish to bring a chair (such as a low beach
chair) pillow, blanket and bottled water. Dress
comfortably. Women typically wear a dress or sarong during
Sacred Ceremonies, but it is not a requirement. |
Homework for the EAST
Write in your Journal.
Your intention must be written in your Sacred
Journey Journal. Write in your journal, reflecting on the East
qualities.
13 Things Done Differently.
Work through the list of 13 things done differently that we
compiled as a group. Continue to write in your journal.
Keep A Daily Gratitude List.
You may keep this list in your journal, however, you may want to
leave space so that you can keep the gratitude list all in one
place.
Build A Medicine Wheel.
Build your own Medicine Wheel at home. You may use stones,
archetypes, shells, crystals, feathers, oracle cards and
candles, etc.
Look for Turtle Medicine
Reflect on the magic of the Turtle, our animal spirit guide for
this Sacred Journey. Become aware. Perform the Full Moon
Ritual
You will need 21 tea lights and your written intention. This
ritual is to begin on July 31, 2004 (the second full moon in
July). Light your tea light after sunset (under the moon). Say "
I will to will thy will", then say your intention out loud. Let
the candle burn out without blowing it out. (Use safety measures
such as placing the votive in the sink in a bowl of water, etc.)
Make A Wand
The wand can be made using wood, crystal, shells, feathers, etc
and should be created by your own hand.
Wand making
Apache Prayer
I call to the powers and spirits of the East.
To illumination and innocence. To golden eagle.
I call to the powers and spirits of the East to come and be with
me. I call to the powers and spirits of the South.
To trust and innocence. To the little mouse.
To the good red road home.
I call the powers and the spirits of the South to come and be
with me.
I call to the powers and spirits of the West.
To the medicine path. To beautiful Shell Woman.
To the dark waters of looking within.
I call the powers and the spirits of the West to come and be
with me.
I call to the powers and spirits of the North.
Home of the old ones. And those who have gone by.
To snowy owl and White Buffalo Calf Woman.
I call the powers and the spirits of the North to come and be
with me.
I call to the powers and spirits of the Earth.
To those who swim, fly and crawl. To all creatures great and
small.
I call the powers and the spirits of the Earth to come and be
with me.
It's a good day to die.
